(BEIJING,August 14) -- Thursday saw the conclusion of the remaining pool stage matches, with 16 Men's teams and 16 Women's teams progressing to the single-elimination stage.

The Men's competition was highlighted by Clemens Doppler and Peter Gartmayer of Austria, who continued to win in the match against Riccardo Lione and Eugenio Amore of Italy. Unexpectedly, the Italian duo, who had lost both previous matches, battled hard and the match ended in the Austrian duo's narrow win with close scores of 21-19 and 24-22 in two sets.

The match between two unbeaten teams ended in no surprise, with top seeds Chinese duo Wu Penggen and Xu Linyin overpowering Spain's Pablo Herrera and Raul Mesa in two straight sets, ending in an unexpectedly uneven match 2-0 (21-13, 21-15).

Defending champions Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor of the United States continued their winning streak with another victory, easily defeating Nila Haakedal and Ingrid Toerlen of Norway 2-0 (21-12, 21-15).

Similarly, the No. 4 seeds Xue Chen and Zhang Xi of China effortlessly defeated the South African pair Vitalina Nel and Judith Augoustides 2-0 (21-13, 21-9).
